Influences to the way I work

Intuition and experience

In addition to the qualifications I have, I lived experience of making a number of values-led career transitions. I also have wide experience across forms of work - I’ve been self-employed; have worked for large and small companies, and I know what it takes to build different types of business.

I know what it feels like to be in various different stages of your career and active transition. I am acutely aware of the fears that come with making big decisions, which often feel harder when they’re driven only from the core of you rather than society or expectation.

From now 100’s of hours coaching and consulting, I have developed an instinct that guides me with any particular client to ask highly intuitive and relevant questions that give the most powerful breakthroughs of thinking.

ICF and Co-Active Coaching Methods

Training with the most renowned coaching school CTI in the Co-Active method and being accredited with the ICF, I am able to uncover your deeper values and life purpose through powerful coaching tools. This helps you tap into your own intuition for the answers you currently have in your subconscious (you have them I promise).  Remember purpose isn’t something to be found, it’s already within you!

NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Planning)

It’s likely right now that there are some limiting beliefs that are currently holding you back like I can’t do that, it’s too risky, I can’t afford to, I’m not sure… Many of these may even be completely unconscious to you. NLP is the toolkit I use to unearth these limiting beliefs and re-wire them for you.

But NLP can do so much more than just re-wiring some beliefs. Say you are really unsure between two career options, NLP can help work through the different parts of you that want each of them. Using NLP we can uncover why you’ve not been moving towards the outcomes you want in your life.

It also invites you to think WAY bigger than you have been. What if you could have the absolute ideal in your career or business? What would that feel like?

Author Influences

I have read an awful lot of books and taken various courses over the years but a few stand out that I want to share…

Designing Your Life by Bill Burnett & Dave Evans

Designing your life.png

This powerful book is an inspiration to my work in many ways and there are elements of it that are weaved into Reignite and most of my workshops. Using systems thinking and experimentation, you can ‘prototype’ different career and lifestyle set-ups before you dive in  - so you can decide if they are, or aren’t, for you. I believe doing some of this work before career or life transitions is one of the best investments of your time and thinking.

So Good They Can’t Ignore You by Cal Newport

Another book inspiration that is a strong force in my thinking around learning is Cal Newport’s work around the notion of deliberate practice and becoming great at what you do. Mastery, growth and intentional skill development open up so many doors and allow you to develop a rich cognitive diversity that is highly valuable to future clients, customers or employers.

Essentialism by Greg McKeown

I have bought and sent this book to friends, business leaders and often find it by the side of my desk for reference. We live in a world where we have so many options of what we can do on any day of the week or at any point in a day. We also have endless demands on our time - from friends, acquaintances, family, colleagues. This book is a masterclass in prioritisation and helps you cultivate powerful thinking space that gives you the reflection time to stay true to yourself.

Untamed by Glennon Doyle

We have to know who we are and be able to notice our own needs in order to have a fully authentic and fulfilling career and life. One thing I aim to do with all my programmes is to provide a safe space for someone to explore everything. The work of Brene Brown and Glennon Doyle - especially this book Untamed - are key influences to me and my coaching style.
